I Love Snowmen!

Sunday we got out the Christmas decorations.  Yes... we are a little late.  Only because we moved last weekend.  Anyway, I found the snowman collection and will be putting it out today!  Yippie!  Here are a few snowmen pictures to entertain and divert from your daily tasks.

Santas Helpers

Last year we had some help with Christmas.  One of our girls got some stickers.  On the back of one of the pages there was a phone number. 

My 7 year old daughter just asked me if I could call Santa and ask him if she could have a body pillow for Christmas.  I said, "sure". Then she asked me I had Santa's number.  My 9 year old promptly said, "No.  She doesn't.  But we do have one of Santa's Elves phone numbers on the back of my stickers."  lol!

Moving!

Good News!  We found a house to rent and we are moving next weekend!  I have not wanted to move and have been dreading it for over a year.  I love it here.  I love my home, neighbors, ward, friends, and it's close to work.  But, as soon as I walked into the house we are renting that all changed.  I got excited and realized it was time to move on.

The house we found is in Herriman.  It makes my commute time about 20 minutes instead of 8, but it is worth it.  Now, my sister-in-law will be able to help the kids with homework after school and it will be done when I get home.  So I'll only have to deal with dinner, not homework, dinner, fights, the mess that was made from the time they got home from school and when I get home.... let's just say that living closer to family will make things easier.  Not to mention the fact that I love to spend time at their house and play games.

I hate packing and am not looking forward to doind the actual "moving" activity, but the result I expect will be a good one.  It is like turning over a new leaf.  Starting over.  Moving forward.  I'm excited!

Here's Where "Home" Is

I got these pictures from my mother.  They are of my Grandmother's home in NC.  It is so beautiful there!  I would love to live there again someday.  And I'm sure you can see why!

Still Home

Even though I only lived in Mt. Airy, North Carolina until I was 8 it still holds a place in my heart.  I've got my mom sending pictures of Grands house.  I'll post those later, but for now, here's a link with some amazing photos on it of "my home town".

New Favorite Place

I have a new favorite place!  It's in American Fork Canyon.  I also think I experienced a little of the joys of hiking.  What beauty! What peace! I found hiking a very spiritual experience and enjoyed every minute.  Granted we didn't hike very far and it wasn't very hard, but I would love doing it long and hard!  It's too bad that the weather is turning cold.  But, I have heard that snowshoeing is pretty exciting and I look forward to trying that also.  Next year though...as soon as the snows gives enough and it isn't too muddy I plan to hike.  Really hike!  Maybe even do some camping.  Who knows...I could become a mountain woman! ha!  Here are some pics I took with my phone last weekend.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Tonight was Parent Teacher conference for my two little girls.  The are 9 and 6.  The first meeting was supposed to be at 5:36....how they come up with these times I do not know.  The other was supposed to be at 5:48.  I got to the first classroom at 5:30.  The teacher had just taken another family into his class so I sat...and sat...and sat...and at 5:47 left him a note and went to the other class. And I sat...and sat...and at 6:10 got in to see one teacher.  I then went back to the other classroom and rescheduled to come back at the end of his day at 7:24 for another chance.  I got there at 7:20 and ... you guessed it...I sat.  I finally got in to see him at 7:45.  Turns out my 9 year old needs help with reading.  I'm glad I went back.  He was very kind.  Even though I had to wait forever it as worth it.  He is a good teacher....a good person.  It's good to know my daughters are in good hands.

Pride and Prejudice

I love this movie!  I'm not sure what is so intriguing to me really.  Keira Knightly drives me crazy and the man who plays Mr. Darcey isn't very attractive so it must be the story line.  I do however find the scene where Mr. Darcey professes his love in the rain to be terribly romantic and I wait for that part every time.  The way he looks at her.  The way he says, "I love you.  Most ardently."  It melts me every time!

I do have to laugh through the movie at Mr. Binggeli.  He cracks me up.  And the way they talk.  The way they are so bold. I love it.  Sometimes I think like they talk in my head.  One of these days the words might slip out of my mouth and embarrass me thoroughly.

I Finally Did It

I finally broke down and bought a new computer.  I've been out of the loop for at least 2 months.  Sometimes being able to get on-line and sometimes not.  So, now I'm mobile!  I have a lap top and after loads of research and help from my 18 year old son I am all set up.  I just finished up getting the budgeting and accounting caught up and thought before I turned in I'd post an update.  I'll be back....

Lucky Tails?

There is a stretch of Redwood Road that we drive everyday where there is an 80% chance of smelling a skunk and/or seeing a deer.  It's awefull!

For the last 2 weeks or so there was a skunk in the middle of the left turn lane.  No one ever drives there because there's no where to turn unless you want to drive into a field.

For some reason we always talked about that poor stinky skunk.  Maybe we should have named it.  Instead we just rolled up the windows and turned off the fan as we drove by.  Sometimes, well usually, I would hold my breath because I knew what was coming.


We also went on about how funny it would be to have a business card that said:

That would be so funny!  "What do you do for a living?" "I'm a lawyer." "I'm a doctor." "I pick up road kill on Redwood Road."  HaHa!!

Anway, today we drove by the same place and all that was left of that poor stinky skunk was the tail.  Literally, the tail, not even the smell remained.  We thought about going back to take a picture it was so funny.  But instead my daughter said in a very hillbilly voice, "I got my rabbit foot and my skunk tail, I'm all set."

We laughed all the way home at that poor stinky skunk tail.  We're still laughing now.

Just me and my girls

Tonight my girls and I went out to get the dog and noticed the moon.  WOW!  It was behind a cloud and all you could see was a light coming up from the edge of the cloud.  Like a silver lining...literally.  We watched in awe as the clouds moved so we could see the entire moon in about 3 minutes.  It was amazing!

There are not words to discribe how funny it was when my 14 year old daughter said..."it's unbeliveable how fast the earth is moving!"  hahaha!!!  We all got a good laugh out of that.  We all knew what she meant, but had to laugh anyway.  Then we all started wobbling around like the earth was really moving.  Did anyone else feel it?  Tonight the earth moved so much the moon moved in the sky!  hahaha!!!

JOB

I got a job!!!  It pays about $4.00 less than the minimum I need, but it's a job.  I like the people, location, work, and everything else.  That's what's important second to money right?  At least I have a job!  One thing off my plate, even though I'll have to work my way up to the $$ I need to survive.

To celebrate my job, I went to the shop and found out that I have a $300.00 repair that has to be made so my engine will last a little longer.

Stuff

There was a day when I could ramble on about just about anything.  I'd sit down at the computer and type about anything.  Most of the time it made no sense at all and I fully expected to get comments like, "what are you talking about?" "You are insane girl!" Or something like that.  Maybe that's why they have the simple options of "funny" "interesting" and "cool" instead of  "weird" "odd" and "boring".

I've been looking for a job since October.  This week I had 2 job interviews!  TWO!  One of them looks very promising.  The problem is that it doesn't pay very much, but it's only about 10 minutes from home, right across the street from my kids school, and it pays...period...it pays.  No matter how much right now, anything coming in would be wonderful!  Friday they called me to see if I could come in for a second interview in the afternoon.  Problem?  I didn't have my phone with me and so I didn't get the message until about 11:30 Friday night.  I have to call on Monday.  I hope they still want me to come in. 

Both jobs would be hard and have different challenges.  One of the jobs is at an HOA.  I'm very familiar with that kind of thing since I was in commercial real estate for almost of my entire professional career.  But I would be dealing with a lot of calls from people that are upset about something or other.  I'll have to practically memorize the CC&R's.  And I'll have to learn a new accounting software.  The other is in customer service. It will be much harder because I'll have to learn a new software and a new service.  It isn't really a hard choice, except for the money.  Oh, and I guess if I even get offered one or the other of the jobs.  I'll have to take what I can get at this point.

I have an appointment on Wednesday that will change my life.  I hope it will solve a lot of my troubles and even help my financial situation as well.  It's been coming a long time and hopefully this will be the end of it.

I'm pretty sure the house is sold.  I don't know what we're going to do when it's time to move.  There's a house on the street next to ours that's for rent and I would love to stay here.  But, for some reason I feel like this home is where we're supposed to be.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how that could ever work, but for now I have to trust that I should just wait and see what happens.  I love this house.  I love the street we live on.  I love my neighbors and my ward.  I have friends here that I would hate to leave.  The kids have friends here.  Another things that is just hanging in the balance.

Maybe the reason I haven't been writing is that I feel like I'm in limbo.  I feel so lost.  I know I have to walk into the darkness a few steps before I can see light to take a few more steps.  And I'm trying to do that.  I'm just so scared.  Maybe after Wednesday and when I get a job things will start to make a little more sense.  For now, I'm in the pitch dark wondering which way to go.

In August I'm supposed to start school at UVU.  Problem?  Since I'll be working I may not be able to do that.  I'll have to either spend time with the kids or take a class or two.  At that rate I'll never graduate.  I'm not sure what to do about that either.

I want a magic lamp, money tree, and cowboy.  HaHaHa!!!  My daughter would get a kick out of that.  She wants a horse and I want land.  Oh, and an electric drill with all of the accessories and a grill to cook on!  Then my life would be complete.  Well....if I don't have to work and the kids are with me and happy my life could be almost perfect.

My roses are in bloom and are doing very well.  This week I'm going to spend as much time as I can working outside.  It's been raining on and off and I've been so busy inside that my yard isn't doing too well.  The garage is even worse!  I need to clean it out and have a yard sale.  Or at least make a trip to the dump.  I told my daughter that I'd love to work in landscaping.  I'd love to learn about plants and how they "work" and where to put them and what looks good together and especially do the work myself to take care of them.  I know how to do sprinklers and I'm pretty sure I could learn how to do curbing and things like that.  Maybe I should call around and see if there are any landscapers that need apprentices of the short, blonde, female, single, mom of 5 persuasion.  hahaha!!!

My computer is on it's last leg.  Literally.  I'm in the market for a new one.  I did a ton of research on Saturday and went to a few stores to look and check prices.  The computer I really want will cost about $2,000.00.  Problem?  There is no way I can take on that much debt.  The second choice is about $1,500.00 and the one I'm probably going to have to settle for is about $700.00.  For now, I got a new memory stick and have putt all of my files on it just in case.  I get so many error messages and it freezes up so much that every time it comes back on I breath a sigh of relief.

I took my van in for break and tire repairs on Saturday morning.  Tomorrow, or soon after, I'll have to take it and have the engine checked.  It sounds bad so I think I should take it in sooner than later just in case.  No problem!  I'll just skip out back to the money tree and give it a little shake before I go.

On June 30 my older kids are going to go to Virginia to spend time with my sister.  They'll be back on the 10th of July.  My little girls are going with their dad from July 2nd until the 17th.  My middle daughter will be here with me unless I can find something for her to do.  It's going to be really hard on her when she realizes that everyone has something to do or somewhere to go during that time except for her.  And she is the most sensitive.  I almost hope I'm not working so I can spend some time with her.

Well, gotta go.  The kids' show is almost over.  They had to stay up and see the season premier of their favorite Disney shows.  I never let them stay up for that kind of thing since it will be on about 100 times over the next two weeks, but tonight I'm being a softy.

Does anyone know how to take the line around my signature off?  It's driving me crazy!  I've tried everything and can't figure it out.

My neice is so cute!  We went to her house on Friday and she was singing at the top of her lungs while standing on a table in a pricess dress with her self inflicted hair cut and a huge smile!  We loved it!

giggle, gliggle, giggle

I've been doing all of the "important" stuff, like trying to find a job, keeping up with the kids, working in the yard, trying to find a place for us to live, and all that other "important" stuff that just has to be done.  So, tonight...this morning...I decided to finally do something for me. 

I have been sleeping though.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.  Since I've been sleeping I haven't been getting anything done.  It is so frustrating I think I might explode.

For now, I need to get some sleep at least.  Tomorrow I've got new pictures of the garden to put up!

The Roses are Here!!

I've been waiting for what seems like a very long time for the first one.  I'll keep updating the pictures.  Now that the first one is out the others will follow very quickly.  It is soooo awesome!!!  Love it!!!  Isn't it amazing?
