The Mirror :: A Poem by my daughter

My 14 year old daughter is an AMAZING writer!  She really will be quite famous one day, I just know it!  Here is a poem she wrote yesterday, in about 5 minutes, during her Journalism Class at school.  She asked me if I would share it with all of you.

She would really love to hear what you think of her poem.  I think she doesn't believe me when I tell her how amazing she is, so please help me help my daughter love herself just a little more.

  3. CJ, you just summed up in one page what life is like as a teenager. I wish I had been able to write half as well as you do when I was a teenager. Or now.

I do promise you, life gets easier, and harder, after school and all of the teenage hormonal drama is behind you.

Keep writing, my dear! Your writing is a beautiful gift.

  6. Those are some very deep thoughts for a teenager and yet so right in how I remember feeling at her very age! I hope she keeps the poem writing up!

  7. Being a teenage girl is so hard! Reading this took me right back to how I felt at that age! I was just not talented enough to be able to express it! I have seen a picture of your daughter and she is beautiful on the outside too! Don't let her doubt īt! And you are correct! She has been given a gift that many don't have. She will go far!

  8. This is beautiful. She's captured how a girl of her age feels--how we all did at that age. Maybe we still do sometimes. Shake her hand for me and tell her to continue writing.

  9. I think that it's great and I have taught poetry in HIgh School for years. I love the image of the mirror and your honesty! Yesterday I was reading Billy Collins. Here's my blog post with the poem on it. You may like it.

She wants me to print out all of your comments so she can hang them on her wall. Thank you! And Kathryn, you are right, CJ is a very beautiful girl! Inside and out! Thank you again everyone!

  11. Sheila,
Your daughter has an incredible gift. and quite a vision to see and to know that all is as it should be.
I was reading through my bible study online (yep, just threw it out there..i read the bible) ;)
the course i use is on https://www.youversion.com, you can sign up for different plans...i am now doing the FEARLESS: a six week journey
well, my reading was about the fact that EVERYTHING we do is really for a higher purpose, even our mistakes....its how we learn and grow from them that shape us and mold us into the WHO we are to become.
"what is meant to be will always find a way"
so, your daughter is on the right track :D
even when everything feels upside down,
HE has plans for us to prosper & grow. We cannot always see what HIS plans are, that is where we learn to walk by FAITH. ;)
    <3
I hope your daughter keeps writing
she has a book in her.
even if it it just her poems.
what she is creating has value.

and it is clear, she has a great team of people guiding and lifting her up!
    Good Job MommaBear! <3
